BizStarts maintains quality staff members, contractors, mentors, volunteers, and more to help ensure entrepreneurs get the best resource possible providing guidance and connections. Let’s meet some of them! Jacquin Davidson, Executive Director Jacquin Davidson is the Executive Director at BizStarts. She leads the staff and operations of the organization. Jacquin meets with all entrepreneurs coming to BizStarts and leads BizStarts fundraising efforts with sponsors, foundations and individuals. Jacquin began her professional career as a teacher in Green Bay before moving to California for 35 years, where she started at J. Walter Thompson Advertising Agency. She launched a 20-year business in the Entertainment Industry serving commercial production and international print media, growing her business to the top tier of companies in Southern California. After exiting that business, she was a successful Vice President & Private Banking Officer for several California banks. Jacquin launched a second business, Davidson Associates, consulting with nonprofit organizations and small businesses on board development, strategic planning, staff development, training and capital campaigns. She and her associates were also Employee Relations Mediators. Her community involvement includes: Rotary Milwaukee, TEMPO, Milwaukee Women Inc., I&E Milwaukee, FaB Innovation Committee, President of the American Heart Association- CA, leadership roles with Susan G. Komen, United Way Women’s Philanthropy Fund, Girl Scouts, Make-A-Wish, and others. Jacquin’s honors include President of the United States service award (twice), Outstanding Women in Business Awards – 2007-2012, Komen President’s Award, Distinguished Woman Award and more.
Kathryn Stephens, Operations Manager Kathryn joined the BizStarts team in March 2012 as the Administrative Coordinator. After handling social media and the website, coordinating companies for BizStarts staff, and heading up event planning and execution, she was promoted to Operations Manager in January 2014. Prior to joining BizStarts, Kathryn was employed at CATI, Inc. and the UW-Parkside Small Business Development Center (SBDC) building social media, website presence and administrative assistance for entrepreneurial classes and workshops in Racine and Kenosha. She received her MBA from UW-Parkside in 2013 and also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems and Business Administration and a Certification in Entrepreneurship, from UW-Parkside.
Becky Klawikowski, Executive Assistant Becky is the first face you see when you walk in the door at BizStarts. Some of her duties include greeting visitors, answering phones, and providing support for other BizStarts staff. Her toolbox of administrative experience helps to keep the office running smoothly and provides support to the BizStarts team. Before joining the staff at BizStarts, Becky established her career mainly in administrative support, working with small, family-owned companies as well as world-wide corporations. (Her favorite to work with is the small, local-owned businesses!) Coming from very entrepreneurial parents, Becky is no stranger to the process of starting a small business. She also volunteers with Make-A-Wish Wisconsin as an event volunteer and wish granter, serves on the Executive Board for Family Life Ministries, Inc. in Indiana, and has served as volunteer program director of children’s ministry at her church.
